| Philippe Champoux [pronounced Philip Shampoo…!] Phil was a late bloomer and only started considering a professional photography career in 2003. His early interest in arts in all shapes and forms is a big part of who he is today and helps him define his daily photographic approach. From the moment he picked up a camera, sports was his aim. Having practiced or played almost every sport there is, it was only logical that his lens turned towards what he liked most. Portrait came right after and environmental sports portraiture is the area where is passion rises. The word quickly spread in Trois-Rivières, a small town located in between Montreal and Quebec city, and first thing he knew, Phil was covering the Detroit Auto-Show, one of the most media-crazed event in the industry. When Phil felt comfortable amidst all those photojournalists, he knew his passion would lead him anywhere he could imagine. Phil landed a full time position as a staff photographer for Auto123.com, moved to Montreal and never looked back. He since added the Photo Editor title to his belt and is looking at his fifth year with the company covering F1, IRL, NASCAR, AMA Superbike as well as other media events. Phil is also a staff photographer for Southcreek Global Media and is looking forward to coverage of the CFL, MLS Pro Soccer, international tennis, NHL and many other professional sports events. Make sure to visit his site often for this is only the beginning of what is shaping up to be a great career. |
